Who we are..


Based in Petworth West Sussex, we are a service with a strong pedigree in both owning and developing businesses in the SME sector for over 22 years which included working in a marketing support/communications agency for over 4 

years. Subsequently I was engaged in the marketing of small/medium independent chartered accountancy and lawyer practices for 14 years, as competitive 'enterprises' to their client markets.


With our extensive business and marketing experience as described below, we can deliver both practical and affordable support that works for your business to profitably grow, change or just sustain it.





Jim Yuill - Principal

After graduating in 1973 with a BSc (Hons) in Pure Science, I held junior production management positions in 2 large manufacturing companies before joining the family engineering business in 1975 through to 1992, as director with specific responsibility for business development.


It was during this time I considered as part of the planned growth strategy for the business, how we could diversify from what was predominately a B2B sub-contract precision engineering business to the aerospace industry, to developing our own branded B2C product utilising existing skills and plant.The result was a range of high quality, uniquely designed precision tungsten darts the brand of which was marketed successfully at home, but even more successfully in dart playing countries throughout the world. The dart manufacturing part of the engineering business was floated as a separate company in 1980 with myself as managing director.


After the business was acquired by one of the largest dart equipment manufacturers in the UK in 1992, I returned to Strathclyde University Business School in Glasgow to study for a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing which I gained in 1994. This qualification enabled me to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM) in 1995.


From 1996 to 2001 I held the position of director of marketing with Command Publicity in Essex, a marketing and communications agency serving the SME sector.


In 2001 to 2003 I was marketing director in the Professional Enterprise Group Plc, a company which ran 2 national professional membership associations, CharterGroup and Lawgroup, of independent chartered accountants and lawyers respectively. In 2003 I was recruited as senior marketing manager by UK200Group, the UK's leading quality assured member association of independent chartered accountants and lawyers where I remained until 2015.


In both these organisations I was responsible for development of the group brands and supporting individual members' practices in their own marketing effort to the business and specialist sectors. 


Since retiring from full time work in 2015 I have engaged in part time marketing support for smaller enterprises applying the knowledge and skills I acquired during my career.



Marketing Planner, developed by JY Marketing, is a tool designed to identify both weaknesses and potential opportunities for smaller businesses It covers the 3 core areas including 'the business', 'the products' and 'the strategy' in a questionnaire format with only 7  key questions about each.


It is intended to provide both a focus for businesses and form the basis of a more detailed plan which we could help to build and implement for whatever your business development needs .
